Wilfrid Blunt was educated at Marlborough College (scholar), Worcester College, Oxford, and the Royal College of Art.

He became a teacher and taught at Haileybury College (1923–1937) before becoming drawing master at Eton College (1937–1959).

He left Eton in 1959 to take up the role of Curator of the Watts Gallery before retiring in 1983. He was also a prolific writer throughout his life, writing 27 books, most of them non-fiction.

John Holmstorm was Blunt’s literary executor and the papers reflect Holmstrom’s role, consisting mainly of Blunt’s writings, and correspondence between the two men.
