Publication note

These manuscripts have been published at various times. The first collection of Coleridge’s poetry to appear in print was ‘Fancy’s Following’, which appeared under the pseudonym ‘Anodos’. It was published in 1896 by the Daniel Press. Eleven of the poems from this collection, and seven new ones, were then compiled in a second volume of poetry ‘Fancy’s Guerdon’, published in 1897 by Elkin Mathews in his ‘Shilling Garland’. In 1899, additional poems were published in ‘The Garland’ as well as in the ‘Spectator’ and the ‘Pilot’.

In 1908, Henry Newbolt published the poems from both volumes together with those that appeared in other publications and periodicals.

In 1954, Newbolt’s granddaughter, Theresa Whistler, re-published the poems with the addition of 31 previously unpublished poems.
