Kate, Hardy's sister, retained a good relationship with both of the Sparks boys as they were growing up. She often invited them to stay and admired their work. They corresponded frequently and it fell to James and Nat to care for her in her old age.

A ringbinder folder of autograph letters and postcards between Kate Hardy and Nat and James Sparks. The letters between Kate and Nat are presented first, followed by the letters between Kate and James (Jim). The letters and postcards are frequent and detailed, building up a vivid picture of Kate's relationship with them. They also refer to Thomas Hardy and one letter in particular from Kate elaborates on her feelings following his death in 1928. In another letter, Kate sends a transcription of a notebook entry by Hardy.
