Hardy-Sparks archive: Jewellery
File
19th century
1 box
A collection of small pieces of jewellery that belonged to members of the Sparks and Hardy families, all of which were passed down to Nat Sparks. There is an ivory bracelet in the shape of a serpent with semi-precious stones as eyes, c.1810 (presumably worn by a member of the Sparks family) and three brooches that belonged to Jemima Hardy. They were given to James Sparks by her daughter, Kate, in May 1936. They passed to Nat Sparks in 1938. One cameo, one onyx set in gold and one with hair in the centrepiece. There is also an agate stone brooch that belonged to Rebecca Hardy (Hardy's cousin). It was passed to Nat Sparks after her death. Finally, there are two miniatures set as brooches of unknown men. One is of a soldier (there is another picture of the soldier in a frame) and the other is of a grey haired man.
Passed to Nat Sparks from older members of the Sparks and Hardy families.
