This work won the T. S. Eliot Prize and the Costa Book Award in 2007

This sub-series covers the creation and development of the work from the early manuscripts and typescripts through to the page proofs.

The manuscripts and typescripts show the development of the poems with the drafts differing from earlier versions to varying degrees. The changes vary from the alteration the word order to complete rewrites of particular stanzas. A number of the early drafts were also written under different titles from the final published version.

The files contain drafts of 45 of the 48 poems which appeared in the final work. The following poems are not represented:

‘Helter Skelter’: The poem was revised and later republished in “West End Final” as ‘Gap in the Hedge’. For the manuscripts and typescripts for this poem see MS 924 01 15
