Content description
The letters were arranged by Elizabeth Hutchings into individually numbered letters and ‘miscellaneous letters’. A note enclosed with the collection states that the individual letters in this series were numbered according to the plastic sleeves they arrived in. This order has been maintained, however several number in this sequence also appear to be missing.
A handwritten list kept as part of the miscellaneous papers (see MS 931 01 02) lists the letters in a different sequence.
Norman-Bulter and Hutchings would often refer to each other as ‘partner’ in reference to their joint ventures on various publications relating to the Norman-Butler and Thackeray families.
