Natural History Society
Series
The Society was founded in February 1929, probably on the initiative of Mr Gaddum, the Curator of the Natural History Museum, who became the first President. There were 20 members elected by the Committee but any boy was allowed to become an associate and numbers reached as high as 400. The distinction between full and associate members was eventually dropped but in 1962 membership was restricted to C Block and specialists and a new Natural Science Society was set up for the lower part of the school.
An earlier incarnation was founded in 1898.
