Content description

Applications from students applying for grants to fund their travel expenses. Applications are for both personal trips and trips which are organised by the school. Each form includes the boy’s name and house, his proposed reason and project for travelling, how much it will cost and how much they wish to apply for concerning the grant. Also includes an endorsement by the boy’s house master. In the proposed reason for the grant the boys state various different intentions.
Some boys applied for funding in order to aid them on school trips such as to Russia, or the Eton into Africa Expedition; some wished to undertake travel which would aid in their studies such as one boy who wished to join a Leprosy Research Project in Nepal before starting studying medicine at University; most boys applied for funding so they may go on trips which would aid in their academic ventures, such as tours of famous galleries to help with art history, or a tour of Greece to aid in history and Greek language. Some boys wished to travel alone whilst others would go accompanied with other Etonians. It is also worth noting that some of the boys also stated that they were working during the holidays in order to make more money for these trips.
