Item
27 September 1455
Account of Richard Blyse, carpenter with pen trials and tradesmen's names below.
On the dorse, petition (in English) by Johane Kenston, late the wife of John Hardy, mason, against William Talbott, carpenter, for goods taken and harm done. List, including damages for ejectment, totals £15 14s 3 1/2d.
The text continues in the same hand, stating that Talbott `had silver vessels one upon the deth of the bisschup of Salisbury which was right unlike for him to owen and ofeerd parcell of the same to sell...and after when the grete truble was in Kentt he put the same unto diverse persones to be kept...', with a list of the goods. [William Aiscough, Bishop of Salisbury, died 20 June 1450. Jack Cade's rebellion of 1450 is probably the trouble in Kent].
