Theodore Randu (1642-1724) joined the Royal family in exile, beginning in the service of Henry, Duke of Gloucester, then became part of the household of King Charles II following Henry's death. In 1673, he was appointed Keeper of the Palace of Windsor, a position he held until his death in 1724. In his will, he left £1000 to Queen Anne's Bounty for the augmentation of livings, £1000 to Christ Church Hospital for the education of boys, £500 to the charity school in New Windsor, £1000 to the Corporation of New Windsor, £600 to augment the livings of Datchet, New Windsor and Winkfield and £50 to the poor housekeepers of Windsor, plus a further £2250 for other charitable purposes. He was buried in St George's Chapel, Windsor. The money for this benefaction came from the remainder of his salary which was unpaid at his death.
