Administrative / Biographical history
In 1700-1701 the College spent £789 2s 6d on a new organ by Bernard "Father" Smith, which appears to have been installed part of the way down the Chapel on a large organ loft. In 1841 John Gray provided a new organ in the old case, and he and Davison provided a new organ in 1852. Hill & Son reconstructed this in 1869 and further major reconstructions took place in 1885 and 1902. Considerable work was carried out in the course of the 20th century, culminating in a major refurbishment in 1987.
