Describes their travels; surprised at church in Caernarvon at appeal to congregation for - Jones after the Creed; 'popped my head' into a Welsh Methodist chapel where the pastor gave the blessing with 'more solemnity and less grimace' than he expected; impressed by the castle; the quay nearly covered by slate from Lord Penrhyn's quarry; Bangor a miserable place; impressed by horsemanship of Welsh driver, a boy of 9; visit to Beaumaris Castle; views of Isle of Man and Anglesey; Aber falls; Conway; Vale of Clwyd.
