Content description
Congratulations on safe birth of Frances's son. Provost: on coming out of church had to admit new Fellow [Thomas Carter] and new Lower Master [Charles Yonge]. Minor canon [Webb] whose conduct has been reprobated in the papers died yesterday; he will not be much missed but there will be a subscription for his widow. Windsor parishioners have set bells pealing to celebrate 'the abominable bill just passed' [Catholic Emancipation Act]; Dean has not followed their example. Fears it will prove disastrous; the Duke of Wellington, Mr Peel, the Bishop of Oxford and above all the Dean of Chester appear pre-eminiently answerable for the mischief. Do not propose however to run riot like a certain divine. Shells. Residences at Windsor. PLACE: The Lodge, Eton
