Content description
Shells, coins. Windsor year better than expected, about £500, but has not received anything from Hitcham, Sloley [West Ilsley] or Eton. Hopes the Bishop of London will grant Ashfield a licence for non-residence on grounds of health. Has told Joseph (his nephew) that the College will not grant him timber; he will subscribe to Dr Thackeray's portrait. Hopes to persuade the College to use Lilstock dilapidations to build a barn and barton. Would not be surprised if Lord Grey went to Ireland as Lord Lieutenant; does not believe a word of the rumoured change of ministry. PLACE: The Lodge, Eton College
