Pleasant day at Windsor Castle 'except for the annoyance produced by her Majesty's excessive kindness'. Lists guests. To dine again, with Vice-Provost, Dr Keate, Dr Hawtrey, Dr Dupuis and probably Mr Coleridge. Newcastle Prize declaration previous day; Goulburn the winner, Mountain KS the Medallist; lists other candidates; very creditable examination; Prebendary Selwyn and Mr Hamilton, brother of the Bishop of Ely the Examiners. Expects his retiring and new curates; anonymous letter calls the latter an evangelical. Settled accounts with his curate; through his own fault has lost nearer £650 than £500 in his ten years at West Ilsley.
