Letter has taken him by surprise. Was not aware he had resolved on forbidding the London match though aware he would have preferred a substitute. Not aware of any misconduct justifying a ban. Point of interest and emulation should not be destroyed. Evils can be guarded against. Objections to match in term at Eton and Harrow alternately remain unaltered. Urges him to reconsider.
