Content description
Inspeximus by John, bishop of Exeter, of the grant of the church of St Stephen's by Saltash by Roger de Valtort and his son Ralph. Also of their grant of the church of St George the martyr in Modbury. Witnesses: Robert, abbot of Forde, Galteri the chaplain, William de Axamua, Milo de Tornecumba, Robert Russell de Bumel, William de Roc, Roger the chamberlain, Richard the butler and others.
Endorsed: Carta episcopi Johannis exoniensis super ecclesiam Sancti Stephani de Chircheton
Seal: Single pointed oval, 60mm (originally about 70mm), brown wax varnished, pendent on doubled tag. Bishop vested in chasuble and dalmatic, right hand raised in blessing, head and superscription missing.
