Copy of lease by the Provost and College to Sir Edmund Fowell, of Fowelscombe in Ugborough, Co. Devon, Knight, of the Priory, rectory and parsonage of Modbury, and the manors of Modbury, Upton and Penquitt, with a tenement in Notter, Co. Cornwall, and eight closes of land(named) and a cottage sometime in the tenure of Michael Mallett and a cottage with three closes(named) and a Parcel of land called ye Wood late in the tenure of the said Mallett, all the premises being lately parcels of the possessions of the Prior of Modbury, excepting the advowson of the vicarage of Modbury and all great timber; to hold for the lives in survivorship of John Fowell, Esquire, son and heir apparent of the said Sir Edmund, and of Edmund, another son, and Florence, daughter of the said Sir Edmund, Yearly rent 46li : 8s : 10d and twenty three quarters, two bushells of wheat and sixty two quarters of malt, or their equivalent in money at the current rate of the Windsor market at Michaelmass, and 6li : 9s : 6d which is a recent increase in the rent and ten pounds for the prequisites of courts and other incidentals
