Stogursey, Somerset: Appointment of groom

Undertaking by Giles Rosee, prior of Stoke Curci [Stogursey], to pay John Caysere half a mark yearly at Michaelmas and provide him with raiment suitable for a groom (vadlet de meistier) and victuals when occupied in his service. And on feast days when he pleases to come he shall be at our disposal when we send to him for our robes and habits. If ill or abroad he is to find a deputy. If he does not receive the above mentioned payment or is disturbed in his office he may distrain on the prior for 100 sous.
