Stratfield Saye, Hampshire: Indenture of agreement over croft

Indenture of agreement between brother William Valeran, prior of St Leonard of Stratfeld, and John ate Frithe, his tenant in bondage, on one part and John ate Ocride on the other part by which the former have granted the latter a croft of land with its appurtenances which is called Bucke Pyrk in the vill of Stratfeld Say lying between the land of Robert ate Oke and the way which leads from Stratfield Mortimer towards Stratfield Saye. To be held until the lessee has had twenty crops of corn. The lessee is to marl the croft sufficiently for first 3 years. And when the time comes the lessors are to plough and harrow the same and sow and weed a moiety thereof and bind and lead a moiety the lessee to sow weed reap bind and lead the other moiety. And Roger le Fraunceys who holds the croft for a term of thirteen years agrees with the agreement, provided he has the care and profit and all things that would have fallen to the lessors during the said term.
