Cottisford, Oxfordshire: Quitclaim of virgate

Quitclaim by Walter de Cotes, upon pain of 40 marks, to brother Michael de Tornebu, proctor and attorney general in England of the abbey of Bec, of all exactions and suits which he had moved against the abbot and monks of Bec, both in the King's court and in the county of Oxford concerning a virgate less one acre at the monks' manor of Coddesford [Cottisford], the erection of a mill, a water course, the obstruction of a spring, a common of pasture and other matters in the said manor, for the sake of peace and for 100s silver of which the proctor has paid 50s, and on the day on which fuller security shall be made by a cyrograph and concord in the King's court before the Justices he will pay the full sum. The witnesses are also named as Walter's securities.
Seal, pointed oval, 30mm, brownish green wax, on doubled tag, the tags parted to emerge separately from the lower sides of the seal. A fleur de lys.
