Indenture of lease by the Provost and College to Thomas Bacon of Hesett, co. Suffolk, gentleman, of the manor of Estewrotham [East Wretham], with all its appurtenances, except the advowson of the church, profits of courts etc. From Michaelmas next for 24 years. Rent, to be paid at the College or at the hospital of St James in the fields at Westminster, 40 marks. The lessee to pay yearly to the steward holding courts there after the ingrossing and delivery of the Court Rolls 5s and 20d to his clerk. If the lessee faithfully observes all the conditions of the lease he shall have as a reward all profits of court, fines, heriots etc. Given at Eton. Signed “Per me Thomam Bakun”.
