Cookham, Bray and Maidenhead, Berkshire: Indenture of lease

Indenture of lease by John Spencer and Agnes, his wife, daughter of Thomas Hakker, deceased, to Thomas Hul, of Maydenhyth, of a place with all the houses etc. adjacent in Braye and Cokeham, which formerly belonged to the said Thomas Hakker. From Michaelmas next for 17 years. Rent to Master Richard Hopton of 26s 8d for a certain sum of money paid down. The lessee to repair the premises and the hedges up to a sum of 36s 10d and up to more at the discretion of the said Master Richard. The lessors will allow expenses for such repairs on condition that the said houses and fences shall at the end of the term be found sufficiently repaired. Neither Thomas himself nor another by his orders shall fell growing trees either around the houses or in the hedges or anywhere on the lands without the consent of the said Master Richard or of some one deputed by him.
