Indenture of lease by William Andrew, of Maydenhithe, to Richard Warner, of Cokeham, of a mese called Wodemancotes in Cokeham, except four acres of meede at Pixhill Yeate in the west meede. From Michaelmas last past for 7 years. Rent £4 6s 8d. The lessee to discharge the lessor "ageynst king and lord" of all out rents, to "repayre susteyne and mayntene the said mese" (except that the lessor shall find "grose tymbyr and tyle with the workemanship of the same"), to "repayre all maner closures and hedges of ye seid mece... taking the felling tynett (dead wood, used in tining or repairing a hedge) and stakes resonable to the same hedgys", at the end of the said term to "leve the seid hedges and closures tenauntlyke repayred", furthermore to "make no waste nor felle no maner woodes... withoute licens of ye seid William". Furthermore the lessee is to have yearly "all soche wode in the comen wode as apperteyneth to ye seid mece" and "sufficient ploughbote for won plowgh". Furthermore the said John (be error for Richard) is to "ley all soche greynes as shall be growen on the same mece" etc. and to "leve wone of the iij feldes for valow at theire departing for hym yt shall come in after, like as he toke it at his comyng it". The lessor is to have "fre comyng in and goyng oute with horse and carte at all seasons to cary theire fewell and wode and to huntte and hawke ... withoute ony interupcion of the seid John".
