Goldcliff and Coldrey, Monmouthshire: Indenture of agreement

Indenture of agreement between Nicholas Lockyer, B D, Provost of Eton, and the College of one part and Christopher Whichcote and John Cressett, of New Windsor, esquires, of the other part, concerning the manor of Goldcliffe Nash and Coldrey, in Netherwent, co. Monmouth. The college agrees to remit £50 a year from the rent of the said Whichcote and Cressett, lessees of the said manor, for the next seven years in consideration of the expense they have been put to in defending the rights of the College in the matter of fines to be paid by the copyholders of the manor upon surrenders, descents and admittances. There was a decree in Chancery 12 March 1608 and there is a suit inthe present of parliament.
