Content description
Petition to the Rev the Provost and the College of Eton of the landholders and other inhabitants of the town and parish of Eton paying to the Poor Rates, which, while expressing gratitude for the great benefactions hitherto provided, requests an addition to the constant assistance they now recieve in view of the increase in the Poor Rates. In the year 1690 £31 3s 1d was sufficient to defray the relief of the poor. In 1716 £168 and upwards was spent on that account.
