Papers of Richard Lionel Ford
Series
Richard Lionel Ford (1908-1924) was the third son of Lionel Ford Bridges Justice Ford (1865-1932), Head Master successively of Repton and Harrow, and from 1925 Dean of York, and of his wife Mary Catherine (May), daughter of Edward Talbot (1844-1934), Bishop of Winchester and the Hon. Lavinia Lyttelton.
Richard came to Eton as a King's Scholar in 1921, establishing himself as a Rackets and Fives player and as a cricketer, but died in 1924, the day before his sixteenth birthday. He was buried at Eton after a service in Lower Chapel and his parents subsequently published a memoir of him. They deliberately sought memories of him for publication, and these are included amongst these papers.
1908 - 1924
