Born 9 June 1813, the son of Robert Keate the surgeon, and nephew of Dr John Keate, Head Master, he was at Eton from 1825 - 1829. He entered the Civil Service in 1831 and then went out to India. He died at Nagapatam, Madras, 5 January 1835.
