Content description
These papers are the correspondence of Dr Keate, his wife Fanny, her father Sir Charles Brown and her sister Margaretta, and five letters addressed to her daughter Anna Keate from Pauline Neale, a German correspondent of Fanny and Margaretta. A detailed description of Dr Brown's correspondence is available online; there is also a typed catalogue of the remainder, with full introduction. Family as well as school affairs are covered; agriculture and local history in Norfolk, life in India, and Prussian history including details of affairs in Berlin under Napoleon and in the 1848 revolution are among the more unexpected subjects to make an appearance.
