A page-a-day diary, which includes Thesiger’s autograph entries, covering his three month camel journey to and from Tibesti.
The entries begin on 24 January 1938 and until the end of July are normally only a few lines long. From August, when he began the trek to Tibesti, until the end of October, when Thesiger stopped recording in the diary, the entries provide a far more detailed account of his route and the landscapes and villages he passed through.
Thesiger used this diary to recount the journey in ‘Desert Marsh and Mountain’ and his autobiography, ‘The Life of My Choice’.
