This collection of diaries cover Thesiger’s first and second crossing of the Empty Quarter and subsequent exploration of Oman. Thesiger came to Arabia as part of the Desert Locust Unit, and his diaries often contain information about locusts as well as comments of the various tribes he encountered.
The diaries give a sense of the hardship of the journey he undertook, as well as accurate and informative details about previously unexplored areas.
