Papers relating to ‘My Kenya Days’ by Wilfred P. Thesiger
Sub-series
1992-1994
1 box
This box contains one corrected typescript for ‘My Kenya Days’.
The work was based on his experiences in Kenya starting from when he first made a series of journeys to Lake Turkana and Marsabit and other parts of the northern frontier district in 1960. He used his diaries and the letters to his mother to remember the sequence of events at the time and produce a detailed description of his time in Kenya which spanned 30 years. It was the first of three postscripts to his autobiography which were written by dictation to Alexander Maitland. As a result the style, the writing and the editing of the book differs from his earlier published works.
The book was published by HarperCollins in 1994.
