A collection of John Carter's papers that relate to his work on A. E. Housman. Carter was responsible for editing the centenary edition of 'The Collected Poems of A. E. Housman' and 'A. E. Housman: Selected Prose', published by Cambridge UP in 1961. Carter also wrote articles, introductions and lectures. This file consists of the manuscripts and typescripts of these works, correspondence that relate to them and often include proofs and preparatory ms. notes.
Provenance
Carter's papers on A. E. Housman were bequeathed to Eton College Library by Ernestine Carter following the death of her husband in 1975.
