Edward Alfred Moulton-Barrett (1859-1932) was the eldest son of Alfred Moulton-Barrett and Georgiana Elizabeth (Lizzie) Moulton-Barrett. He was born at Leamington, Warwickshire. Educated at Lancing, Elizabeth College, Guernsey and the RMC Sandhurst. In 1880 he joined the West India Regiment and in 1885 was transferred to Army Ordnance Corps. He served with distinction in the South African War and received the Companion of the Order of St Michael and St George (CMG) for his service. From 1902 to 1906 he was at Headquarters War Office as Assistant Director of Ordnance. He retired from the Army as Colonel on inheriting properties in Jamaica in 1907.
In August 1914 he returned to England for further service at the War Office and Headquarters Eastern Command and Aldershot. He went to France as Director of Ordnance Third Army in 1915. Towards the end of the war he was appointed Liaison Officer for Ordnance with the American Expeditionary Force. Mentioned in dispatches six times. He rose to the rank of Brigadier-General in the British Army and was awarded the Companion of the Bath (CB), and made an Officer of the Legion of Honour.
In Jamaica, he was nominated as a Member of the Legislative Council from 1910 to 1923. He was appointed to the Privy Council from 1913 to 1920. He also served as Custos of St Ann's Parish (1914-1932).
Edward Alfred married firstly Frances Amelia Horton (1857–1927) in 1885. They had one son, Edward Francis Moulton-Barrett (1886–1971). He married secondly, in 1927, Kate Josephine (Jose) Howson (1876-1954). Edward died in Kingston, Jamaica in 1932.
