E.A. Craig collection: Papers relating to Edward Gordon Craig’s designs for a staging of 'St. Matthew Passion', an oratorio written by Johann Sebastian Bach
Sub-series
Craig began working on a model for St. Matthew Passion in 1913. In 1914, he employed carpenters to build a nine-foot high model. The First World War interrupted the work and the model was dismantled.

This sub-series contains his plans and designs for the model as well and extensive photographs of the model itself.
The contents of the files reflect Edward A. Craig’s last use of the material and are catalogued here in chronological order.
