This collection of diaries covers his later journeys which he made more for pleasure than exploration. From 1968 to 1976 he spent nine months of each year in Kenya on safari.
The nature of the diaries at this time changes, which reflects the different motivation for Thesiger taking the journeys. While they are still informative, he details the geographical aspects to a lesser extent, as his primary interest became the local people he encountered.
