These volumes were created by Frank Ashton-Gwatkin and his wife Nancy to mark areas of interest throughout this life. Some of the volumes relate to particular events or periods, whereas others are mixed and contain a variety of items collected together in what appears to be a sporadic manner. They are predominantly made up of news cuttings and photographs however some of the volumes contain diary entries; letters written to Frank Ashton-Gwatkin and drawings.

In 1919-1921 Ashton-Gwatkin appeared to begin writing a diary alongside keeping a scrapbook of events, however by the end of 1921 he abandoned this practice in favour of simply keeping a scrapbook which would occasionally record typescript diary entries.
