Hardy-Sparks archive: Family papers
Series
19th-20th century
3 boxes, 7 family trees and 1 map
The personal papers of Hardy and Sparks family members. The papers of Nat Sparks makes up the largest proportion, followed by James Sparks, their father Nathaniel Sparks Snr and their mother Annie Lanham. The remainder of the material is divided into two sub-series: other family papers from the Hardy side and other family papers from the Sparks side of the family.
The papers include financial documents, birth certificates, death certificates, wills and diaries. In the case of Nat Sparks' papers, there is also research into the family history, six extensive family trees (one large) and a hand-drawn map of Puddletown.
For the Hardy side of the family, there are copies of wills and a typed list of relics that survive from the Hardy family in Bockhampton.
The papers of notable individuals within the archive have been given their own sub-series. In terms of physical arrangement, the papers of Nat Sparks are in a single box, the papers of James, Nathaniel Snr. and Annie Lanham in another box, and the remainder of the family papers in a final box. Oversized items (the hand-drawn map of Puddletown and the six family trees), are in Y.4.
