E.A. Craig collection: Copies of Edward Gordon Craig's diaries and daybooks
Series
1894-1958
7 items
The daybooks were used by Gordon Craig to record his thoughts on everything that happened. While predominantly personal in nature, the diaries and daybook also provide an insight into the professional life of Edward Gordon Craig, containing his theatrical theories and ideas as well as accounts of his professional day-to-day business.
The daybooks dated 1908-1943 were given to his son Edward A. Craig, when the possibility of E.A. Craig writing a biography of his father was first mentioned. The originals were sold to the Bibliothèque Nationale, with these photocopies retained by Edward A. Craig.
