J.B. West, Weedon Bec, to the Rev. Dr Roberts, Eton College Lodge, asking that a Mr Bliss may be appointed gamekeeper for Everdon. "He is a very sober young man, of about 25 years of age, is fully qualified for the business, being remarkably active and expert with a fowling piece". Since the writer's appointment (as bailiff) he has taken 19 surrenders but most of them conditional and to the uses of wills, and there is not yet business enough to warrant the holding of a court.
