A packet of documents relating to the Chancery Suit of the College v. Sir William Cope and Maximilian Petit, esquire, concerning lands in Cottesford, co. Oxford; including a parchment indenture of award by Sir John Croke, a justice of the pleas, signed and sealed, dated 30 June 1617. The lands include three crofts or closes called Coksheyes, containing three acres, a furlong called Ryley's Breach, containing 6 or 7 acres, a close called Davies close containing 1½ acres, a close called Dovehowse Leies alias Cokesland, containing 6 acres, a close called Penycard of Hogeycard, containing 1½ acres, a close called the Little Parke containing a rood, a piece of grass near Cokesheies and Ryleies Breach, containing 3 acres, a piece of ground lying between Couperens and Watkins containing 4 poll square, sometime called Swanbornes, a furlong of arable in the common field containing 12 acres, a plot of furze fround containing 3 or 4 acres, so much of a parcel of ground containing 18 acres on the south side of the Greate Ponde as lies between heathland and an ancient balk which did run along through the said close by certain thorns, the Greate Pond butting on the end of the said land; and a tenement of 2 yard lands called Watkin Reeve ro Watkin; and a close called Watkin close. The cause, by mutual consent of the parties, was stayed in Chancery and referred to the arbitrament of Croke. 1617 - 1618.
