Administrative / Biographical history

The reason for presence among the archives of Eton College of copies of Court Roll and other manorial documents concerning copyhold lands in Yateley, Hampshire, has not been established. This property was part of the manor of Crondal. The interest that brought the records to Eton was evidently concerned with the holdings that had belonged to the Hockley family from the time of Charles I.

Date

1566 - 1900

Provenance

The majority of records catalogued as ECR 55 relate to various estates of which the main bulk of documents were kept in a different drawer in the Library and are thus catalogued elsewhere.
