Typed transcript of letter to Henry Dupuis (1808-1867), assistant master 1835-1852, describing a fight with Maoris during a surveying expedition in New Zealand, 10 April - 31 August 1843. Attached are notes on the Kitson family and a photocopy of a photograph of Kitson, 1872.

The original letter is in the Isel Museum. The photograph is from the Nelson Museum, and has the reference Brown 12403/2
