Item
19 October 1804
His son's creditors in Edinburgh seek payment, "I should not be at all sorry that my young man were to feel somewhat severely the mortifying discgrace of being damn'd for debts incurred by the most unbounded and unwarrantable extravagence, but I do not wish that any more Law-expenses should be heaped upon us". Has written to William to say that he is asking T. Bidwell to pay the tradesmen on his behalf. Encloses draft for £200. Written from Berlin.
